Hi, I am a homeshool mom. I have a 6,4 and 2 year old. I think I take a different approach to schooling my kids than other homeschoolers do. I do not do paces, I prefer books and things that the public schools have. I do themes and use alot of ideas from "The Mailbox" books, Evan-Moor and others. I was wondering if there were other homeschool moms out there?

Hi...I am also a homeschool mom, brand new actually. This is our first year and i've pieced together a curriculum based on the way my children learn. I've had a lot of help from a homeschool friend, but I'm still pretty apprehensive about the upcoming school year. Anyway, I saw your post and wanted to say hi!

We are homeschooling our children. We use Calvert. I have tried piecing together in the past, and it just didn't work for us. We do extra things, like seasonal crafts, and unit studies, but for the most part, we go by the book. Calvert is expensive, but so worth it.

I am homeschooling my kids. I have a daughter - 8 and two boys 4 1/2 and 2. We are using K-12 for my 3rd grader. I really wanted to do more of a homeschool than public school at home. I think I'll be trying something else next year. My preschooler is doing things on the computer and I'm using "Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons." Of course, my 2 yr old is learning age appropriate things, too. Any advise for teaching multiple kids of different ages?

Hi I am a wisconsin mom who is new to homeschooling. Just a few months, I try to use what our schools do as far as texts. I am still figuring this all out and am in search of science based thematic units for a kindergarten student and a second grader. I will try looking up the mailbox books. Thanks for the tip.

Hi, Thought you might be interested: So far this year, my girls and I have thoroughly enjoyed Evan-Moor's Scienceworks for Kids Series, Learning about the Earth. You can check them out at evan-moor. com. You can see several pages in each book online. (I plan on using other themes in this series because we like it so well!) Hope this helps! Anna:) |

Thanks for the tip on the Evan Moore books. I will check them out. I found a new web site today, teachervision, and was able to print off a few things. I liked being able to get different grade levels of material that had the same subjects. Then I felt like my five year old was not frustrated and my eight year old was challenged enough. My two year old liked some of the pages as well. Teaching multiple grade levels is a bit tricky. We do try to work together when we can but sometimes a difference in approach is more grade, development specific. Thanks again for the tip and good luck . WI Mom
